How to use our music parts
Our arrangements of Christian songs, hymns and carols can be used by choirs or vocal groups who enjoy singing in harmony, as well as by instrumental groups, brass bands, worship teams and orchestras.
Skilled musicians may find our parts useful as a framework for their own improvisatory gifts.
We are constantly updating and improving our material as our resources
develop. Your comments and suggestions are always welcomed.
KeysMany items in the catalogue are available in a choice
of keys. We try to make our music compatible with as many books as
possible, and advise customers to check the original key in the
relevant songbook before ordering music parts.
Where the original key of the music contains 4 sharps, we have usually
provided an alternative low key in 3 flats. This gives B-flat and
E-flat transposing instruments an easier option.
Vocal part ('Basic')
This part is suitable for:
- Choir / Vocalists
- Piano / Keyboard / Organ
- Guitar (rhythm)
- Musical Director (short score)
The Basic part is usually scored for a combination of
Soprano, Alto, Tenor & Bass voices, often with an additional
Descant line. Baritone pitch is occasionally used, where applicable.
Sometimes the music lends itself to a fuller arrangement, which
might require doubling of one or more vocal part (e.g. SAATTB). Where
we have listed these doubled parts in brackets, the doubling is
optional - e.g. SA(A)T(T)B.
Instrumental Parts
Instrumental parts comprise the following lines as standard:
plus any additional lines that we have added:
- Countermelody
- Descant
- Fanfare
- Free parts
- Other vocal lines etc.
Parts for Bb, Eb & F instruments are transpositions of
the material on the 'C' parts (C-treble, C-bass, Violas).
Instrumentalists may like to play different lines for each verse of the
song. Alto & Tenor lines can also sound effective at a higher
octave above the tune.
