Matt

Matt is an experienced saxophone and flute tutor and professional musician, with a passion for helping students develop their confidence, creativity and enjoyment of music.

A First Class Honours graduate in Jazz from Leeds College of Music, Matt has been teaching privately since 2015, working with students ranging from complete beginners through to professional musicians and from children as young as seven to adult learners. His teaching experience also includes working with Leeds City Council's ArtForms Music Service, where he delivered one-to-one and group tuition and led ensembles, as well as teaching jazz and classical saxophone and flute through The Leeds Music Hub.

Alongside teaching, Matt has built an extensive career as a professional saxophonist and flautist, performing across the UK and internationally with artists and ensembles including Matthew Halsall, Ancient Infinity Orchestra, NYJO, Abstract Orchestra, K.O.G and Jasmine Myra. His performance credits include the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Centre, Blue Note Tokyo, Glastonbury, Paradiso Amsterdam and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.

Matt brings this wealth of professional experience into his teaching, supporting students at all stages of their musical journey and helping them develop both their technical ability and their own individual musicianship.
